Police continue probe into cause of death after autopsy
A male body discovered by fishermen near Bridge 6 in Galang, Batam, has been identified as an employee of BP Batam Hospital, with authorities now intensifying investigations into the cause of death.

The body was found on the morning of Feb 14, 2026, by local fishermen in the waters of Air Dapur, Galang Baru Village. The victim was reportedly entangled in a fish trap.

The discovery was promptly reported to police, who evacuated the body and transported it to Bhayangkara Hospital under the Riau Islands Police for autopsy.

On the night of Feb 15, 2026, police confirmed that the victim was an employee of BP Batam Hospital. “Yes, it is correct. The body has been identified as an RSBP Batam employee,” said Barelang Police Criminal Investigation Chief Kompol M. Debby Tri Andrestian.
