Indonesia’s Immigration Office in Batam has officially introduced a seven-day Visa on Arrival aimed at foreign tourists making brief visits to Batam and the Riau Islands. The initiative targets travelers coming for tourism, family visits, and other limited short-term activities, offering a simpler and more affordable entry option.
Clear Rules and Limited Validity
According to Aris, Head of Public Relations at the Batam Immigration Office, the visa is valid for seven days, allows a single entry, and cannot be extended. He emphasized on Thursday, January 22, 2026, that visitors must exit Indonesia before the visa expires to avoid penalties under existing immigration regulations.
Affordable Fees and Designated Entry Points
The seven-day VOA costs Rp250,000, or approx. SGD 20, making it one of the most budget-friendly entry visas in the region. The visa is available only at designated immigration checkpoints, including Batam Center, HarbourBay, Sekupang, Nongsa Terminal Bahari, Marina Teluk Senimba, Bengkong Gold Coast, Sri Bintan Pura, Bandar Bentan Telani Lagoi, and Tanjung Balai Karimun.
Strict Compliance with Immigration Law
Holders of the seven-day VOA must both enter and exit Indonesia through the same official checkpoints. Under Immigration Law No. 6 of 2011 and Government Regulation No. 45 of 2024, overstaying by up to 60 days results in a fine of Rp1 million per day, or approx. SGD 80. Immigration authorities strongly advise travelers to monitor their visa validity closely.
Simple Application Process on Arrival
The application process is completed upon arrival at the port or airport. Travelers must make payment at a designated bank counter within the immigration area and present a passport valid for at least six months. After payment, a visa voucher is issued and exchanged at the VOA counter for a visa sticker and electronic entry stamp.
