Major CNB operation seizes drugs and cash capable of sustaining hundreds of abusers

A major drug enforcement operation near Holland Village has led to the arrest of two Singaporean men and the seizure of large quantities of illicit drugs and cash, underscoring Singapore’s zero-tolerance stance on narcotics trafficking.

Arrests Following Police Assistance Call
The first case unfolded on Jan 17 when police officers responded to a call for assistance at a residential unit along Holland Drive in Queenstown. During the response, officers discovered suspected drugs and a large sum of cash, prompting the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) to take over the investigation.

Large Drug Seizure from First Suspect
The 47-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene, where CNB officers seized about 4,113 grams of cannabis, 135 grams of Ice, 31 grams of Ecstasy, and 40 Erimin-5 tablets. Drug paraphernalia and cash amounting to S$420,383.30 were also recovered, according to CNB’s media statement released on Jan 20.

Second Arrest in Follow-Up Operation

The operation expanded the following day, Jan 18, when CNB officers arrested a second suspect, a 29-year-old man, in the same Holland Village area. This arrest was part of a follow-up operation linked to the initial discovery.

Additional Drugs Found in Chua Chu Kang
A subsequent search of the younger suspect’s residence in Chua Chu Kang led to the seizure of about 393 grams of ketamine, 101 grams of Ice, and 17 grams of Ecstasy tablets. Officers also recovered S$180.20 in cash during the raid.

Drugs Valued at Over S$123,000
In total, CNB seized approximately 4,113 grams of cannabis, 393 grams of ketamine, 236 grams of Ice, 49 grams of Ecstasy, and 40 Erimin-5 tablets, along with cash totaling S$420,563.50. The drugs have an estimated street value exceeding S$123,000 and could potentially feed the addiction of 723 abusers for one week, CNB said.

Severe Penalties Under Singapore Law
CNB reiterated that anyone found guilty of trafficking more than 500 grams of cannabis faces the mandatory death penalty under Singapore law. Investigations into the drug activities of both suspects are ongoing as authorities work to determine the full scope of the syndicate involved.

This case highlights Singapore’s uncompromising approach to drug enforcement and the serious consequences faced by those involved in narcotics trafficking. For both Indonesians and Singaporeans observing regional security trends, the arrests reinforce the city-state’s commitment to maintaining strict law enforcement standards and public safety amid persistent cross-border drug threats.
