IIB pledges full support for Malaysia’s Budget 2026, driving high-impact investments, sustainable growth, and youth empowerment across Johor.
Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB) has expressed its full support for Malaysia’s Budget 2026, aligning its strategies with the government’s agenda to drive southern Johor’s economic transformation through the Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), green innovation, and talent development.
Boosting Confidence in Johor’s Economic Future
IIB commended Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s RM470 billion national budget, highlighting its balance between fiscal responsibility and forward-looking growth. The company noted that these policies would enhance investor confidence in Johor’s long-term projects, especially those involving sustainable and high-impact development.
The government’s commitment to accelerating southern Johor’s progress through the JS-SEZ was described as a “timely and strategic move” that will position the region as Malaysia’s international investment gateway. Supporting initiatives such as the Invest Malaysia Facilitation Centre – Johor (IMFC-J) and the Johor Super Lane aim to streamline investment approvals and improve governance efficiency.
Record Investments Strengthen Johor’s Standing
The JS-SEZ recorded RM37.1 billion in approved investments during the first half of 2025, accounting for 66% of Johor’s total. Johor also topped Malaysia’s foreign direct investment (FDI) chart, securing RM25.5 billion, more than one-third of the country’s total FDI in the same period.
According to IIB, these figures reflect robust investor confidence and effective collaboration between federal and state authorities. The company reaffirmed its role in ensuring that economic benefits are inclusively shared with local communities through high-impact and sustainable projects.
Developing Johor’s Future Workforce
In support of human capital growth, IIB welcomed Khazanah Nasional Berhad’s RM200 million K-Youth Programme, which aims to provide work-based training for 11,000 non-degree youth in key industries, including semiconductors, digital technology, engineering, and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO).
As a strategic implementation partner, IIB will work with Khazanah, industry players, and educational institutions to ensure an effective rollout across Johor. This complements the work of the Johor Talent Development Council (JTDC) — co-led by IIB — which focuses on enhancing graduate employability and building high-value career pathways.

Advancing AI and Green Innovation
Looking ahead, IIB plans to collaborate with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Research & Development Commercialisation Innovation (RDCI) projects under the National Innovation Agenda. These initiatives will reinforce Johor’s position as a leading digital innovation hub in southern Malaysia.
Aligned with the government’s sustainability goals, IIB also supports the Green Investment Tax Allowance, aimed at encouraging low-carbon, energy-efficient, and climate-resilient investments across Iskandar Puteri.
Building Sustainable and Inclusive Communities
Beyond industrial growth, IIB expressed support for Employees Provident Fund (EPF) initiatives to develop student housing in partnership with Universiti Malaya (UM) and praised the First Home Buyer Initiative for affordable homes under RM500,000, which supports its Wawari West Park Homes project in Iskandar Puteri.
IIB will also leverage national frameworks such as GEAR-Up and SJPP guarantees to enhance its capital recycling strategies, ensuring financial resilience and long-term growth.
By aligning closely with Malaysia’s Budget 2026 pillars, Iskandar Investment Berhad positions itself as the “Southern Engine for National Rejuvenation.” Through a synergistic blend of talent development, innovation, and sustainability, IIB is driving Johor’s transformation into a resilient, high-value regional hub — a model that could shape future economic collaboration across Southeast Asia.
