New features include AI-powered video generation, likeness protection, and creator-focused analytics.
YouTube has announced a major expansion of its AI-powered tools, unveiling a new suite of features designed to support creators, enhance Shorts, and tackle deepfake misuse. The updates, revealed at the platform’s annual Made on YouTube event, underscore Google’s growing push to integrate AI into content creation.
Ask Studio: A Creative AI Partner
One of the headline features is Ask Studio, an AI conversational assistant that provides creators with personalized insights on video performance, audience behavior, and strategic growth. Currently in limited rollout in the US, the tool aims to become a “creative partner” for every YouTuber, offering actionable guidance based on channel data.
Generative AI for Shorts
YouTube is integrating Google DeepMind’s Veo 3 video generation model into Shorts. Creators can now generate short, vertical videos with sound directly from text prompts, using a simple “create” button within the app. The tool is rolling out in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, with broader availability planned. Additional AI video editing features—like Edit with AI, which transforms raw footage into a first draft, and Speech to Song, which remixes dialogue into soundtracks—are also being tested.

Tackling Deepfakes With Likeness Detection
To combat the rise of AI-generated deepfakes, YouTube is expanding its likeness detection tool. Available in open beta for YouTube Partner Program members, it allows creators to identify and request removal of unauthorized content using their facial likeness. This is part of the platform’s broader response to the surge of nonconsensual AI videos targeting influencers and celebrities.
Enhancing Global Reach With AI Dubbing
YouTube is testing improved auto-dubbing technology with lip sync capabilities across 20 languages. The system uses AI to better align dubbed audio with creators’ mouth movements, helping localize content more naturally for global audiences. This marks a step beyond traditional dubbing methods that relied on human translators and voice actors.
New Studio Features for Collaboration and Testing
YouTube Studio is also receiving significant updates. Creators will soon be able to:
- Add up to five collaborators to a single video, with visibility across all their audiences.
- Run expanded A/B testing for titles to optimize engagement.
- Access new updates to the Inspiration Tab for content ideation.
These upgrades are designed to streamline workflows and help creators reach audiences more effectively.
YouTube’s expanded AI toolkit represents a decisive step in redefining digital content creation. By blending generative AI with protective measures against deepfakes, the platform seeks to empower creators while addressing growing ethical concerns. For creators across Asia and beyond, the new tools promise both opportunity and responsibility as AI continues reshaping the creative economy.
