A 45-year-old man and his 51-year-old wife were charged in Singapore with methamphetamine-related offences after allegedly allowing the woman’s 15-year-old son to smoke an illegal drug.
Couple with Prior Drug History
Court documents revealed both had previous stays at drug rehabilitation centres (DRC). The man was sent to a DRC in 2000 for morphine use, while the woman underwent rehabilitation in 2020 after abusing methamphetamine. Despite these interventions, they allegedly resumed drug use after release.
Meth and Drug Paraphernalia Seized
On June 23, authorities reportedly found drug paraphernalia inside a Yishun Housing Board flat. Items included smoking devices, straws stained with methamphetamine and heroin-related substances, and a crystalline packet containing methamphetamine.
Charges Filed in Court
On August 28, prosecutors charged the couple with methamphetamine consumption, possession of drug paraphernalia, and permitting a young person to consume narcotics. Due to a gag order protecting the minor, the identities of all parties remain undisclosed.
Teen Allegedly Exposed to Drugs
Between January and June, the couple allegedly allowed the woman’s teenage son—who is also the man’s stepson—to smoke an unspecified illegal drug. Court documents did not reveal where the boy is currently living.
Ongoing Legal Proceedings
The couple’s case has been adjourned to September 25 for further hearings. If convicted, they face significant penalties under Singapore’s strict drug laws.
