Kejari Bintan eliminates narcotics and crime-related items from 37 cases to ensure transparency.

The Bintan District Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari Bintan) has destroyed evidence from dozens of criminal cases, including narcotics, to prevent misuse and reinforce transparent law enforcement.

Dozens of Cases Resolved

Chief Prosecutor Rusmin stated that the evidence came from 37 general crime cases with final court rulings between January and July 2025. These included 22 non-narcotics cases and 15 narcotics cases.

Drugs Destroyed in Public

As part of the destruction, 123.3 grams of methamphetamine (sabu) were blended until dissolved, while 39.8 grams of marijuana were burned completely under supervision. The method ensured the drugs could not be reused or circulated illegally.

Other Items Eliminated

In addition to narcotics, prosecutors destroyed other crime-related objects:

  • 3 small scissors
  • 3 cutter knives
  • 10 sets of drug-smoking equipment
  • 20 mobile phones
  • 6 digital scales
  • 36 pieces of used clothing

Ensuring Transparency

Rusmin emphasized that the destruction of evidence serves as a safeguard against abuse and a demonstration of judicial integrity. “We ensure everything is destroyed according to legal procedures,” he affirmed.

Reinforcing Law Enforcement

The action reflects the prosecutor’s office’s commitment to eradicating narcotics circulation and maintaining transparency in criminal case management—an effort meant to assure the public that no confiscated evidence will re-enter the market.

The destruction of evidence in Bintan underscores Indonesia’s broader fight against narcotics and its emphasis on transparent law enforcement. For communities across the Riau Islands and beyond, such measures demonstrate accountability and strengthen public trust in the justice system.
