From stunting prevention to youth empowerment, events highlight five flagship “quick wins” initiatives.
BKKBN Kepri celebrated Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day alongside International Youth Day with a series of community events, free family planning services, and programs targeting stunting prevention, youth development, and elderly care.
Celebrating with Purpose
On 13 August 2025, the BKKBN Kepulauan Riau office in Sekupang, Batam, hosted a combined celebration for the 80th Independence Day and International Youth Day. The day began with a fun walk and morning exercise, fostering camaraderie between staff, partner agencies, and the public.
Kepala Perwakilan BKKBN Kepri, Rohina, said the event aimed to strengthen community ties and showcase the agency’s transformation into Kemendukbangga/BKKBN, shifting its focus from “family planning” to “planned society.” Central to this vision are five “quick wins” programs designed to deliver tangible benefits.
Five Flagship Programs
The quick wins include:
- GENTING: Sponsorship for at-risk children to prevent stunting.
- TAMASYA: Certified childcare centres with professional caregivers and psychologists.
- GATI: Encouraging father involvement in child-rearing.
- SIDAYA: Community-based home care for neglected elderly.
- Keluarga Indonesia AI Super App: Digital hub for family, health, and education services.
These programs, Rohina noted, are integrated with national stunting reduction targets and nutrition education campaigns such as B2SA (Beragam, Bergizi, Seimbang, dan Aman).
Direct Community Support
During the event, BKKBN Kepri distributed food aid to 4,000 targeted families at risk of stunting, with 72% of the target already reached. Support from Bank Syariah Kepri, worth Rp67 million over six months, was channelled to beneficiaries. Initiatives like DASHAT (Healthy Kitchens to Overcome Stunting) and cooking competitions promoted practical nutrition awareness.
Elderly residents received aid through the SIDAYA program, while visitors accessed free KB services — from implants and IUDs to pills and injections — with specialist doctors available for MOW and MOP procedures. Free health checks for blood sugar and cholesterol were also offered at the daily Satyagatra service point.

Youth and Volunteer Engagement
Youth volunteers from Duta GenRe Kepri organised the BTS (Beras, Telur, Sedekah) campaign, collecting donations for child and maternal nutrition. Bunda GenRe Batam, Hj. Erlita Amsakar praised their dedication, noting the role of young people in combating stunting and shaping the “golden generation” for 2045.
Erlita also encouraged youth to embrace healthy lifestyles, avoid risky behaviour, and use technology wisely. The celebrations included cultural games, storytelling, art contests, and a webinar titled Generation Reimagined: Leading with Purpose, concluding the month-long festivities.
Economic Empowerment and Skills Training
The event also promoted economic self-reliance through UPPKA’s trade fair and training programs for fish farming and hydroponic vegetable cultivation. These activities aim to boost family incomes while linking community health initiatives with local economic development.
By blending public health services, stunting prevention, youth empowerment, and economic initiatives, BKKBN Kepri’s 80th Independence Day celebration showcased a holistic approach to family welfare. For Indonesians and Singaporeans, it stands as an example of how government agencies can combine celebration with actionable, community-focused impact.
