Pre-dawn operation nets reckless bikers, as police also report two unrelated fatal crashes.
A targeted police operation in Iskandar Puteri has led to the arrest of four young men for performing high-risk motorcycle stunts, while two other riders lost their lives in separate accidents over the same weekend.
Pre-Dawn Highway Operation
At around 3 a.m. on August 10, police detained four local men aged 18 to 25 along KM15J to KM12.9J of the Second Link Expressway toward Gelang Patah. The riders were caught performing “Superman” stunts — lying flat on their bikes at high speeds — after public tip-offs about street racing activity.
Legal Consequences and Safety Warnings
Iskandar Puteri district police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Kumarasan said the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries penalties of up to five years’ imprisonment and a maximum RM15,000 fine. He warned that police will continue targeted enforcement against illegal racing and urged parents to monitor their children’s late-night movements.
Ongoing Crackdown on Illegal Racing
The arrests are part of ongoing district traffic enforcement to deter “road bullies” and illegal racers who endanger themselves and other motorists. Kumarasan stressed that such reckless displays serve no purpose and will be met with firm action.
Two Fatal Motorcycle Crashes in Separate Incidents
In an unrelated case at 8:30 p.m. on August 9, a 20-year-old motorcyclist died after crashing into the rear of a four-wheel-drive vehicle along Jalan Nusa Perintis toward Nusantara. He sustained severe internal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
At 3 a.m. on August 10, another 20-year-old motorcyclist was killed on Lebuh Nusajaya toward Gelang Patah when, while attempting a U-turn from the right lane, he was struck from behind by a car. The collision threw him onto the car’s windscreen, causing fatal head injuries.
Public Appeal for Witnesses
Both fatal accidents are being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. Police are appealing to witnesses to contact the Iskandar Puteri District Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Division at 07-5101322.

These incidents underline the dangers of reckless motorcycle riding and the human cost of unsafe road behavior. For communities in Johor and nearby Singapore, they reinforce the importance of strict enforcement, road safety awareness, and collective responsibility in preventing further tragedies.
