New tax incentives aim to boost youth empowerment and strengthen national workforce productivity.
Indonesia is rolling out special tax incentives for industries that recruit and train interns, signaling a major push to enhance workforce productivity while supporting economic growth.
Government Pushes for Industry-Education Collaboration
Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar announced that companies offering vocational internship programs will benefit from “super” tax deductions. Speaking after a ministerial meeting in Jakarta on July 28, 2025, Muhaimin emphasized that this policy is designed to reward businesses while simultaneously nurturing Indonesia’s young workforce.

A Win-Win for Industries and Workers
The new scheme encourages businesses to actively engage in skills development. “We are ready to work with industries to find solutions that support recruitment through internships and skills enhancement programs,” Muhaimin stated. By training interns, companies gain access to a more capable talent pool, boosting productivity and competitiveness.
Strengthening Youth Empowerment
Muhaimin highlighted that well-coordinated collaboration between industries and educational institutions is crucial to accelerate youth empowerment. Such synergy not only prepares young Indonesians with practical skills but also contributes to economic advancement at the national level.
Open Communication with Government Encouraged
The minister urged industry leaders to maintain open dialogue with the government to make the program successful. “Do not hesitate to work together with the government,” he said, stressing the importance of collective efforts in building a stronger workforce.
High-Level Support Across Ministries
The initiative has garnered strong backing from various ministries. The meeting was attended by top officials, including Deputy Ministers from Education, Finance, Industry, and State-Owned Enterprises, alongside Danantara COO Pandu Sjahrir. Their presence underscores the government’s commitment to aligning policies with industry needs.
Economic Growth Through Skills Development
By offering these tax incentives, the government hopes to attract more companies to invest in human capital development. The program is expected to create a more skilled labor force, reduce unemployment, and empower youth to play a greater role in driving Indonesia’s economic growth.
Indonesia’s new tax incentives for industries recruiting interns reflect a strategic move to strengthen both businesses and the workforce. By fostering collaboration between education and industry, the policy sets the stage for sustainable economic development and a more empowered generation of young Indonesians.
