First Graduates from Sekolah Lansia Tangguh

The event marked the first graduation for Sekolah Lansia Tangguh, with 28 participants completing their studies. Meanwhile, Sekolah Lansia Berkah Bahagia celebrated its second graduating class, awarding certificates to 22 seniors. The initiative is part of the Bintan Peduli Lansia movement, aimed at promoting active and healthy aging.

More Than Just Education

The program spans three months with 12 sessions each year, offering courses in religious studies, health, skills training, physical activities, and recreational learning. Beyond academics, it provides seniors with a space for social interaction and mental stimulation, helping them stay engaged in the community.

Emotional First Experiences
For some participants, this was their very first time attending school. “All my life, I never had the chance to study. This experience is truly precious,” one elderly graduate shared with tears in their eyes. Their stories touched many attendees, underscoring the program’s profound impact.

Leaders Applaud Seniors’ Spirit

Bupati Roby praised the seniors for their dedication to learning. “We are proud and happy to see the enthusiasm of our seniors in joining this program. The activities are positive and strengthen social bonds,” he said. The graduation became not just a ceremony, but a celebration of resilience and the value of continuous learning.

Commitment to Continue the Program

The local government reaffirmed its commitment to expanding the initiative so more elderly citizens can benefit. Plans are underway to improve the curriculum and reach more villages, ensuring seniors across Bintan have access to empowering education.

The graduation of 50 seniors in Bintan highlights the transformative power of lifelong learning and community support. By fostering active participation and continuous growth, programs like these enhance the well-being of the elderly while strengthening the social fabric of the region.
