19-year-old Irfan dreamed of serving in the police force before fatal motorcycle accident

A tragic accident along Tanah Merah Coast Road has claimed the life of 19-year-old police trainee Mohammad Irfan Nur Iman Bin Azhar. As his family grieves, they are reaching out to the strangers who performed CPR in his final moments.

Young Officer’s Dream Ends in Tragedy

In the early hours of 22 June 2025, a serious motorcycle accident occurred along Tanah Merah Coast Road heading towards Xilin Avenue. The victim, Mohammad Irfan Nur Iman Bin Azhar, was a 19-year-old police trainee from the Home Team Academy, who had long dreamed of joining the force. Riding with an 18-year-old female pillion, Irfan’s motorcycle is believed to have self-skidded, according to the Singapore Police Force (SPF).

Good Samaritans Rushed to Help

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received the alert at 5:45am. Before emergency services arrived, several passers-by reportedly performed CPR on Irfan. He and his pillion were taken to Changi General Hospital conscious, but Irfan later succumbed to his injuries. His pillion rider survived with a fractured right leg and is currently recovering.

Family’s Heartfelt Appeal

On 6 July, Irfan’s mother, Iman Syuhadah, took to Facebook with a deeply emotional plea. The family is seeking to identify the good Samaritans who tried to save their son, expressing gratitude for their “courage, kindness, and effort.” They hope to personally thank those who stepped in during the critical moments.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Irfan’s parents via the numbers 87938729 (father) or 87498857 (mother).

Authorities Investigating Incident

The SPF confirmed the crash involved only one motorcycle and was likely caused by the vehicle self-skidding. Investigations are still ongoing. A condolence message from the SPF was shared by Irfan’s father, along with a poignant photo of Irfan in his police uniform—symbolizing a dream fulfilled only briefly.

The case highlights the unpredictable nature of road conditions, especially during pre-dawn hours, and the importance of safety for both new and experienced riders.

Honoring a Young Life

Irfan’s untimely death has resonated beyond his family. As a young officer who had just embarked on his journey of service, his passing serves as a sobering reminder of the risks faced by motorcyclists. The public response underscores the unity and humanity within Singapore’s community, where strangers step forward without hesitation.

The death of a young police trainee in Changi has sparked both grief and gratitude. While his family mourns an irreplaceable loss, they are also reminded of the compassion found in the actions of strangers. For both Indonesians and Singaporeans, Irfan’s story is a powerful testament to the values of public service, community solidarity, and the fragile nature of life on the road.
