Seatrium Batam ships offshore wind jacket for US Empire Wind project, marking global trust in local manufacturing.
Batam’s industrial rise hit a new milestone as Mayor Amsakar Achmad officiated the export of a massive wind turbine foundation to the United States. The structure, built by Seatrium Batam Yard, forms part of the Empire Wind project—an offshore renewable energy initiative on America’s East Coast.
Major Milestone for Batam’s Industry
On July 7, 2025, Batam’s Mayor and Head of BP Batam, Amsakar Achmad, led the ceremonial send-off for a towering wind jacket structure manufactured by Seatrium Batam Yard. The jacket—designed to support offshore wind turbines—was shipped to the United States as part of the prestigious Empire Wind project, a major renewable energy venture in the Atlantic.

“This is an extraordinary achievement,” Amsakar said. “Batam’s capabilities in high-tech manufacturing are gaining international recognition.” He emphasized that Batam’s inclusion in a global clean energy supply chain reflects both the quality of its industrial output and the competence of its local workforce.
Strategic Leap in Green Economy
The Empire Wind project is critical to the US’s clean energy transition, and Batam’s role as a component supplier marks a strategic step forward in Indonesia’s green economy aspirations. Amsakar hopes the success will attract more renewable energy and high-tech investments to the region.
“Our vision is to make Batam a crucial node in the global green economy,” he declared. The jacket structure’s complexity and compliance with international standards prove Batam can deliver on technically demanding projects—boosting investor confidence.
Strong Local-Global Collaboration
According to Amsakar, the achievement symbolizes effective collaboration between government, local talent, and global firms. The city’s proactive industrial policies and workforce development efforts are paying off, with Seatrium Batam emerging as a consistent player in the export of advanced engineering structures.

This shipment adds to Seatrium’s track record of producing export-grade infrastructure. However, the Empire Wind project is among the most prestigious due to its focus on renewable energy—a sector poised for exponential growth.

Economic and Social Impact
The project doesn’t just elevate Batam on the world map—it directly supports local job creation and skill advancement. As Indonesia diversifies its industrial base, projects like this show how regions beyond Jakarta can contribute significantly to global markets.

Amsakar stressed that scaling up such exports could lead to larger projects and more employment. “This should be the start of a new chapter for Batam’s industrial development,” he noted.
Batam’s export of the Empire Wind jacket structure underscores Indonesia’s growing role in the global renewable energy supply chain. As the city aligns itself with sustainable industry trends, this milestone strengthens Batam’s economic linkages not just with the United States, but also with innovation-driven neighbors like Singapore.
