Late-night confrontation in Sengkang turns violent as man falls off moving car bonnet

A late-night attempt to catch a cheating spouse turned chaotic when a man ended up injured after confronting his naked wife and her alleged lover in a car at a Sengkang multi-storey carpark. The incident, now in court, raises legal and moral questions that have captured public attention.

Man Catches Wife Naked With Lover in Carpark

At around 2:13am on June 29, 2024, 42-year-old engineer Wu Yong Sheng (also reported as Goh Yong Sern) found his wife allegedly naked in a car with another man at Block 278 Compassvale Bow. Suspicious after she failed to return home, Wu searched for her and spotted the familiar vehicle of 50-year-old Chia Hiok Seah, whom he had previously seen with his wife.

Upon discovering the couple naked inside the locked vehicle, Wu began filming and demanded they exit the car. When they refused, he climbed onto the bonnet in an attempt to stop them from leaving. Chia allegedly stepped on the accelerator, flinging Wu to the ground. The fall left Wu with facial lacerations, hand and knee abrasions, and chest injuries. He was hospitalized and underwent surgery hours later.

Ongoing Court Trial and Charges

Chia is currently on trial facing two charges: one for causing hurt through a rash act, and another for appearing nude in public. He pleaded guilty to public exposure under the Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance) Act but denied reckless conduct. The trial, which began on July 1, 2025, remains ongoing, with further testimonies expected.

Victim Testifies to Pain and Lasting Injuries

Wu testified that the pain from the fall was severe and that he still suffers from physical limitations, including difficulty with strenuous activities and a visible facial scar. He also told the court that Chia frequently interacted with his wife and claimed the man had previously “harassed” her.

Emotional Fallout and Public Interest

This high-profile case highlights not just legal implications but the emotional toll of infidelity and betrayal. The unusual nature of the incident — involving nudity, public exposure, and injury — has drawn attention across both Singapore and the region.

Legal and Social Implications

For Indonesians and Singaporeans alike, the incident serves as a cautionary tale about handling domestic disputes. It underscores the dangers of escalating confrontations and reminds the public of the consequences of reckless behavior in emotionally charged situations.

This dramatic case underscores the emotional volatility that can arise from suspected infidelity and the real-world consequences of rash decisions made in the heat of the moment. For both Indonesians and Singaporeans, it serves as a stark reminder of the importance of handling personal disputes through lawful and non-violent means. As the court continues to weigh the legal responsibilities involved, the incident also opens broader conversations about privacy, personal boundaries, and the legal limits of confrontation in emotionally charged situations.
