Singapore Airlines reshapes global routes with aircraft upgrades, suspensions, and new frequencies for Winter 2025-26
Singapore Airlines (SQ), globally acclaimed for its premium service, has unveiled significant updates to its Northern Winter 2025-26 schedule. These changes are aimed at optimizing fleet usage and meeting evolving travel demands across long-haul and regional markets.
Major Changes on Long-Haul Routes
Singapore Airlines will introduce significant aircraft upgrades and route adjustments starting late October 2025 through early March 2026. The Singapore–Auckland (SQ285/286) route will be upgraded to the Airbus A380 from 18 January 2026, joining existing A350 and 777-300ER services. This shift adds substantial capacity for one of the airline’s most popular long-haul destinations.

On the other hand, the nonstop Singapore–Barcelona route will be temporarily suspended from 3 February to 5 March 2026. Travelers can still access Barcelona via Milan Malpensa (MXP) with five weekly A350-900 flights, maintaining strong European connectivity.
European Flights See Frequency Shifts
Singapore Airlines will increase flights to Frankfurt (FRA) from seven to 13 weekly beginning 18 January 2026, using the A350-900. The current A380 on SQ326/325 will be replaced with the 777-300ER. However, London Heathrow (LHR) and Milan (MXP) will see temporary service reductions during February and March, balancing aircraft availability across key hubs.
Regional Adjustments and Suspensions
Aircraft swaps will dominate regional changes. From 26 October 2025, A350-900s will replace the 787-10s on Singapore–Denpasar (DPS) and Singapore–Kuala Lumpur (KUL) routes. The same swap will apply to Hong Kong (HKG) and Manila (MNL) services.
South Korean routes will be impacted more significantly:
- SQ612/611 (Singapore–Seoul Incheon) will be suspended from 12 January to 8 February 2026.
- SQ606/605 will follow from 23 February to 13 March 2026.
This reduces daily Seoul operations from four to three flights temporarily.
Expanding Operations in Asia-Pacific
In China, the Singapore–Shanghai Pudong (PVG) route will upgrade to an A380 from 1 February 2026, increasing capacity during peak demand. Meanwhile, Beijing Daxing (PKX) flights will pause from 5 January to 1 February 2026, and selected Beijing Capital (PEK) services will also be reduced.
New Zealand’s Christchurch (CHC) will receive 11 weekly flights from 24 November 2025 to 13 February 2026, capitalizing on peak summer demand. In South Asia, the Singapore–Colombo (CMB) route expands to 10 weekly flights starting 6 January 2026, operated with A350-900 aircraft.
Seasonal and South Korean Route Developments

SQ’s seasonal destinations are also seeing positive changes. Sapporo (CTS) services resume 30 November 2025, ramping up to seven weekly flights by year-end. Additionally, Singapore–Taipei (TPE) seasonal SQ872/873 flights return on 2 February 2026, adding four A350-900 flights, bringing total weekly services to 18.
In Busan (PUS), frequency will increase from four to six weekly flights from 28 October 2025, rising to daily flights starting 1 February 2026. This aligns with rising demand between Singapore and South Korea.
Singapore Airlines’ Winter 2025-26 changes reflect a bold and data-driven approach to dynamic travel trends. By boosting high-demand routes, pausing underperforming ones, and enhancing regional efficiency, SQ reinforces its leadership in aviation. These strategic moves are poised to benefit not just international travelers but also the Indonesian and Singaporean markets reliant on regional connectivity and global access.
