JMR secures podium finishes in Thailand, hailed by Sultan Ibrahim as a “sweet gift”

Johor Motorsport Racing (JMR) celebrated a powerful double podium finish at the GT World Challenge Asia in Thailand — a victory warmly praised by Malaysia’s King, Sultan Ibrahim, as a meaningful birthday gift.

Podium Glory in Buriram

JMR clinched first place in the second race and second in the first race of the GT World Challenge Asia’s Buriram round on May 31 and June 1, respectively. The races were held at Thailand’s Chang International Circuit and marked the fifth and sixth rounds of the series.

Royal Praise for Victory

In a Facebook post on June 2 — his official birthday and a national public holiday — Sultan Ibrahim expressed heartfelt congratulations to his son, Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ibrahim, and his teammate, Ben Green, for their commanding performance. He called the win a “sweet gift” in conjunction with his birthday celebration.

Encouragement for the Young Prince

His Majesty also extended supportive words to his other son, Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar Sultan Ibrahim, who also competed in the race but did not place. “Do not be disheartened or give up. Continue fighting in the upcoming races,” wrote the King, a known motorsports enthusiast and longtime backer of JMR.

Championship Momentum Builds

With these strong results, JMR announced that Tunku Abdul Rahman now leads the GT World Challenge Asia driver standings by a 62-point margin at the season’s midpoint. The team’s rising performance positions them as serious contenders for the championship title as the series progresses.
