A man with eight criminal records is on the run after a dangerous escape from a Johor roadblock, sparking a police manhunt.

A 27-year-old local man is the subject of an urgent police search following his reckless escape from a roadblock near the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) checkpoint in Johor Bahru on Tuesday evening. The suspect, who was driving a Mitsubishi Triton, was flagged down for using a bus-only lane at around 8.50 PM. When two officers approached, he accelerated away aggressively, initiating a high-risk chase.

The suspect sped through traffic for approximately 7 kilometres before abandoning his 4×4 and fleeing into nearby bushes on foot. If convicted, the suspect could face a combined penalty of over 20 years in prison, fines exceeding RM25,000, and corporal punishment.
