Digital Edge, a Singapore-based data center operator, has raised over $1.6 billion through equity and debt financing to accelerate its growth in the Asia-Pacific region. The funding aims to meet the rising demand for cloud and AI services, while expanding its footprint across six countries.

Established in 2020, Digital Edge has become a key player in Asia’s data center industry, managing 21 facilities with over 500MW of IT load across strategic locations, including Japan, Korea, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. This latest capital injection, supported by global institutional investors and sovereign wealth funds, underscores the company’s vision for delivering advanced digital infrastructure.

Digital Edge raised $1.6 billion through $640 million in equity investments and $1 billion in debt financing. The equity round was oversubscribed, reflecting strong confidence from global investors, including some of the largest institutional and sovereign wealth funds.

The capital will support the development of new facilities, including a 300MW campus in Navi Mumbai set to open its first phase in Q2 2025 and a hyperscale edge data center in downtown Tokyo, marking its ninth facility in Japan.

John Freeman, President of Digital Edge, emphasized that the funds would enhance the company’s ability to meet the growing demand for cloud, AI, and interconnection services. CEO Samuel Lee hailed the financing as a milestone, enabling the firm to deliver cutting-edge infrastructure solutions.

In 2024, Digital Edge expanded its footprint with the launch of its third data center in Korea (SEL2) and the 23MW EDGE2 facility in Jakarta. These projects solidify its position as a regional leader in hyperscale and edge data centers.
