Enhancements include long-term subscriptions, premium rates, and ICPT charge exemptions for consumers.

The Green Electricity Tariff (GET) program in Malaysia will continue in 2025 with an increased quota of 6,600 GigaWatt-hours (GWh) and new consumer-friendly options. The initiative, launched in 2021, aims to promote renewable energy usage and reduce carbon emissions.

Malaysia’s Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry announced enhancements to the Green Electricity Tariff (GET) program for 2025. The initiative encourages residential and corporate users to switch to renewable energy sources. It aligns with Malaysia’s broader sustainability goals and supports ESG commitments.

The 2025 program offers at least 6,600 GWh of green electricity at premium rates of MYR 0.10 (SGD 0.03) per kilowatt-hour for low-voltage consumers and MYR 0.20 (SGD 0.06) per kilowatt-hour for medium- and high-voltage users.

Consumers can now subscribe to GET up to 2027, ensuring certainty for corporate and industrial users to plan green electricity supply effectively.

Since its inception, GET has supplied 9,400 GWh of green electricity to over 3,000 consumers, aiding in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Subscribers in 2025 will be exempt from Imbalance Cost Pass-Through (ICPT) charges, shielding them from fuel price fluctuations and highlighting the cost-efficiency of green electricity.

Malaysia’s expanded GET program demonstrates the country’s leadership in sustainable energy practices for Singaporeans and international visitors. The enhancements ensure greater affordability and accessibility for businesses and households committed to reducing their carbon footprint.

Malaysia’s Green Electricity Tariff programme will continue in 2025 with expanded quotas, enhanced subscription options, and exemptions from ICPT charges. The initiative underscores Malaysia’s commitment to sustainability, supporting corporate ESG goals and renewable energy adoption.
