BP Batam is conducting structural tests on the Barelang Bridge 2 to ensure it meets the demands of two major National Strategic Projects (PSN) in Rempang and Galang islands. The infrastructure upgrade aims to support increased traffic during the construction of the Rempang Eco-City.
The Rempang and Galang islands, part of Batam, are set to house key National Strategic Projects aimed at transforming the region into a prominent investment destination. BP Batam is focusing on infrastructure readiness, with the Barelang Bridge 2 undergoing stress tests as part of these efforts.
BP Batam initiated structural integrity tests on the Barelang Bridge 2 from Dec 3-4, 2024. These assessments are critical for ensuring the bridge can handle the increased traffic expected during the development of the Rempang and Galang projects.
To minimize disruptions, the bridge will undergo periodic closures lasting approximately 15 minutes each. BP Batam has apologized for any inconvenience caused during these scheduled tests.
