Industrial License Issued for Batam’s Tanjung Sauh Economic Zone

The issuance of an Industrial Business License (IUKI) marks a significant milestone for the Tanjung Sauh area in Batam, advancing its status as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and supporting key sectors such as production and logistics.


Tanjung Sauh, designated as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and part of Indonesia’s National Strategic Projects (PSN), has recently been granted an Industrial Business License (IUKI). Spanning 840.67 hectares, with 703.8 hectares on land and 136.87 hectares at sea, the area is gearing up for significant industrial and logistic development.


Approximately 59.7% of the proposed SEZ land has been secured, establishing a foundation for extensive production and processing activities alongside logistics and distribution operations.

The plan includes the construction of both a Thermal Power Plant (PLTU) and a Solar Power Plant (PLTS). It is set to begin in 2025, aiming at fulfilling the energy needs of Tanjung Sauh, with the PLTU featuring a capacity of 400 MW.


The projects within the SEZ are expected to generate substantial employment opportunities, projecting a workforce of 366,087 individuals by the year 2053 and attracting an investment realization target of IDR 199.6 trillion.


The SEZ is strategically located on the same-named island, enhancing Batam’s potential as a pivotal economic hub in the region, promoting sustained economic growth.

The development is spearheaded by PT Batam Raya Sukses Perkasa in coordination with local government officials, underscoring a collaborative effort to optimize Batam’s economic trajectory.
