Indonesian Students Triumph at International Coding Contest in Korea

Six young students from Indonesia have clinched top honors at the Coding World Innovative Technology Challenge 2024, held in Yeosu-si, Korea, demonstrating advanced mathematical and coding prowess.


The competition, which took place on November 2-3, 2024, at Chonnam National University, saw participants from various countries including the Philippines and host nation Korea. Indonesia’s team, led by Budi Chang, returned with two gold, one silver, and three bronze medals.


The Indonesian team underwent six months of intensive training, including mathematics and programming, from basic to advanced levels, which propelled their skills to a high school level despite their younger age.

Among the winners were Felicia Dahayu from East Java and Jose Norotouw from Papua. Their achievement is notable given the short training period compared to their international peers.


The competition judged entries based on program effectiveness, originality (including AI assistance), and creativity, areas in which the Indonesian team excelled.
