As the newly elected administration of President Prabowo Subianto takes the helm, a focused initiative to revitalize Batam’s shipbuilding sector is underway. This move, aimed at enhancing Indonesia’s competitive edge in the global market, was highlighted during a recent visit to Batam by the National Defense Council of Indonesia (Wantannas RI).
On September 17, 2024, Muhammad Rudi, Head of BP Batam, welcomed the Wantannas RI team led by Rear Admiral Arsyad Abdullah. The visit focused on assessing and advancing Batam’s shipbuilding and offshore construction sectors to new heights, aligning with President Prabowo’s economic expansion goals.

The Wantannas RI gathered crucial data to draft policy recommendations aimed at spurring economic growth through enhanced shipyard operations in Batam, known for its substantial marine engineering facilities.
