Team Indonesia is gearing up for a stellar performance at the Asia Open Memory Championship (AOMC) 2024 in Singapore, aiming to build on their past success and showcase their memory skills on an international stage.
Scheduled for September 28-29, 2024, at the Singapore Polytechnic Graduate Child, this year’s AOMC hosted by the Asia Memory Sports Alliance is a crucial event for the 19-member Team Memory Sports Indonesia. The team hopes to repeat and exceed their previous year’s achievement of winning 22 medals and earning two Grandmaster titles at the competition held in Manila.
The competition tests participants in several categories including recalling faces, names, numbers, cards, and random words under time constraints. This year, returning champion Janet from Depok, West Java, who set a world record by remembering 194 faces and names in 15 minutes at last year’s World Memory Championship in China, is among the favorites.

Alongside seasoned athletes, the team features promising young talent like Faiza Aliyya and Danish Ahza, who have previously demonstrated their exceptional memory skills. Faiza, competing in the junior category, and Danish, in the kids’ category, both bring prior medal-winning experience to the table.
The competition will see participants from over 10 countries including powerhouses like the Philippines, China, Japan, Malaysia, and India. The event not only serves as a platform for showcasing memory prowess but also as a cultural exchange among the best in the field.
Under the guidance of Yudi Lesmana, head coach and chairman of the Indonesia Memory Sports Council, the team has been preparing since early August. Their training focuses on enhancing their mental capacity to exceed normal human limits.
