In a coordinated effort, the Directorate General of Marine and Fisheries Surveillance (PSDKP) and Batam Customs successfully intercepted a smuggling operation attempting to export 795,000 lobster seeds, valued at approximately IDR 90 billion (SGD 7.65 million).

On the evening of August 21, 2024, around 9:00 PM local time, surveillance teams detected suspicious activity involving a fast boat with a 200-horsepower engine near Pulau Panjang, Karimun District. The suspects attempted to escape but ultimately abandoned the boat and fled on foot.
The raid resulted in the seizure of 80 styrofoam boxes containing the lobster seeds, intended for illegal export through Singapore to Vietnam. These lobster seeds included species such as sand lobsters and pearl lobsters, highly valued in the seafood market.
The operation was a collaborative effort between PSDKP, led by Director General Pung Nugroho Saksono, and Batam Customs, headed by Rizal. Both leaders praised the coordination and dedication of their teams in preventing the lucrative smuggling of these marine resources.
