To enhance the efficiency of travel between Batam and Singapore, the Batam Class 1 Special Immigration Office has equipped two key ferry ports with state-of-the-art autogate systems, aiming to expedite the immigration process for thousands of daily commuters.
Fifteen autogate units have been strategically placed at the Batam Center International Ferry Port and Harbourbay Ferry Port, with separate gates designated for arrivals and departures.
he autogate system is currently operational only for travelers between Batam and Singapore. Manual immigration processes are still in place for destinations like Malaysia, where autogate technology has not yet been implemented.
The exclusive use of autogate systems for Singapore routes is due to Malaysia’s non-adoption of similar technology, occasionally leading to immigration issues for travelers without stamped passports.
The immigration office plans to increase the number of autogate units at Batam Center International Ferry Port to further enhance traveler convenience and operational efficiency.
