The 26th Kenduri Seni Melayu (KSM 2024) officially kicked off at the Harbour Bay parking area in Batam, Indonesia, with representatives from six countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar, and Brunei Darussalam, showcasing the rich Malay cultural heritage.
The three-day festival, part of the Karisma Event Nusantara, aims to promote Malay arts, tourism, and the creative economy in the region.
Batam Mayor Muhammad Rudi, along with regional leaders, inaugurated the festival with traditional ceremonies, reflecting the festival’s significance in cultural preservation.
The event drew participants from across ASEAN, highlighting its role as a platform for cultural exchange and strengthening regional ties through the arts.

The festival is expected to attract numerous visitors, which will boost local businesses and showcase Batam as a vibrant tourist destination.
Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, commended the initiative via a virtual address, emphasizing its potential to enhance local employment and economic prosperity.
