As part of the MoU on Economic Cooperation and Capacity Building (MoU ECCB) under the Indonesia-EFTA Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (I-EFTA CEPA), Indonesia hosted a pivotal training session on “International Fish Trade, Global Applicable Framework, and Market Access” in Jakarta from June 4-6, 2024.

This training session marks a significant step in the ongoing collaboration between Indonesia and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries, aiming to enhance global trade understanding and facilitate access to international markets for fishery products.

Training materials focused on international trade instruments for fisheries, preferential access for fish and aquaculture products, market access strategies, and the legalities surrounding fishery products, aiming to equip participants with comprehensive knowledge to excel in the global market.

This session is part of a series under the MoU ECCB I-EFTA CEPA, following two previous training sessions held in 2023. These initiatives underline Indonesia’s commitment to fully leveraging the I-EFTA CEPA for enhancing trade relations and capacity building within the country.

The training was attended by 47 participants, including representatives from relevant ministries and seven fishery business associations in Indonesia. This wide participation underscores the significant interest and need for expertise in navigating international markets within Indonesia’s fishery sector.

This training not only highlights Indonesia’s proactive approach in enhancing its fishery sector’s global competitiveness but also signifies the potential for increased collaboration and trade opportunities within the Southeast Asian region. Such initiatives are likely to stimulate economic growth and strengthen international ties.
