Joint MINEX PANDU 2024: Strengthening Naval Ties Between Indonesia and Singapore

In a concerted effort to boost military cooperation and interoperability, the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) and the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) have embarked on a joint mine countermeasure exercise, Joint MINEX PANDU 2024, held in Batam, Indonesia.

The strategic location of Batam, close to both Singapore and Indonesia’s maritime borders, provides an ideal setting for this high-level military training, focusing on mine warfare tactics and techniques.

The exercise includes a variety of operations such as tactical maneuvers, mine neutralization, underwater diving, aerial medical evacuation, and combat search and rescue, primarily conducted in the waters east of Bintan and Batam.

From Indonesia, the exercise involves two mine countermeasures vessels, KRI Pulau Fani-731 and KRI Pulau Fanildo-732, and a Naval Special Forces (Kopaska) team. Singapore contributes with RSS Bedok, RSS Punggol, and units from the Naval Diving Unit.

This biennial exercise alternates host duties between the two nations, highlighting a deep-seated commitment to regional security and the strengthening of bilateral military relations.

Security measures for the naval vessels during the exercise are managed by Marine Battalion IV, underscoring the importance of safeguarding advanced military assets and personnel involved in the drills.
