In March 2024, the Plt Head of Indonesia’s Statistics Bureau (BPS), Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, revealed that Indonesian tourists visiting Singapore reached 119,000, driven in part by Taylor Swift’s ‘The Eras Tour’.

The surge was primarily attributed to Taylor Swift’s ‘The Eras Tour’, which took place over six days at the National Stadium.

Taylor Swift performed for six days in Singapore, spanning two weekends in March 2024. The concerts attracted approximately 300,000 ticket holders to the National Stadium.

The six-day concert made Singapore the only Southeast Asian city in Swift’s Asia Pacific tour. The concert led to a 30% surge in demand for flights and accommodations. Jetstar Asia recorded a 20% increase in flights connecting Singapore with Jakarta, Bangkok, and Manila.

Hotel occupancy rates soared, particularly at resorts like Raffles Sentosa Singapore and Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa. The concerts bolstered Singapore’s hospitality and travel industries.

Increased Indonesian tourism to Singapore was also partly driven by other international concerts. Visits to Saudi Arabia increased for Umrah pilgrims, reaching 117,000 trips.

Indonesian outbound travel saw a 4.85% increase from February 2024 and a 7.45% rise from March 2023. From January to March 2024, Indonesian travellers made 2.18 million international trips, up by 15.75% compared to the previous year.
