To address the surge in travelers during the Eid al-Fitr celebration in 2024, Batam’s Hang Nadim Airport, in the Riau Islands, announces a significant increase in flight services with 37 additional flights from three airlines.
In preparation for the anticipated increase in passenger traffic during the Eid al-Fitr holidays in 2024, Batam’s Hang Nadim Airport has coordinated with airlines to introduce 37 extra flights. This move aims to ease the passenger congestion and enhance the holiday experience for travelers. The initiative reflects a collaborative effort between the airport authority and airlines such as Citilink, Super Air Jet, and Lion Air, focusing on key routes including Jakarta, Medan, and Pekanbaru.
Operations Director of PT Bandara Internasional Batam (BIB), Nugroho Jati, highlighted the strategic timing and routing of the additional flights to accommodate the high demand during the pre- and post-Eid period.

BIB has established an Integrated Transport Post for the Eid 2024 season, operating for 16 days to provide information and services to passengers, ensuring a seamless travel experience.
Peak travel is expected to occur on April 6, 2024, with an estimated 17,000 travelers departing from Hang Nadim Airport, a 10% increase compared to the previous year.
The anticipated peak of the return flow is predicted on April 16, with approximately 16,000 passengers, demonstrating the airport’s preparedness for both phases of the holiday travel.

The integrated post is staffed by 400 personnel working in cooperation with various stakeholders, including security, service, and health posts, underlining a unified approach to managing the Eid travel surge.
