Indonesian President Joko Widodo actively promotes investment opportunities in the new capital, Nusantara, to Brunei’s business community, highlighting its strategic importance and potential.

In a strategic move to attract foreign investment, President Joko Widodo met with Bruneian business leaders to discuss investment opportunities in Indonesia’s new capital, Nusantara. This initiative aligns with Indonesia’s ambitious goal for its new capital, part of the broader Indonesia Emas 2045 mission.

President Jokowi’s meeting at the Assarraa Guest House in Bandar Seri Begawan, held on January 13, 2024, focused on presenting Nusantara’s potential to a consortium of Bruneian investors.

Jokowi outlined the progress of Nusantara, highlighting that 70% of its construction is complete. The capital is envisioned as a ‘smart forest city’, with 70% green area coverage and 80% of transport based on green energy.

Significant investments have begun in Nusantara, with 13 projects already initiating construction, including hospitals, hotels, malls, a football training center, green transportation, and the integrated Nusantara Superblock.

The Indonesian government has prepared various incentives for investors in Nusantara, including super tax deductions, tax holidays, and import duty exemptions, aiming to attract more foreign investment.
