The Tambelan Police Sector of Bintan Police has seized 213 bottles of illegal Arak liquor aboard the KMP Bahtera Nusantara 3 Roro ship, marking a significant step in combating illegal alcohol distribution.
In a recent operation named Lilin Seligi 2023, the Bintan Police and Tambelan Sector Police collaborated to secure hundreds of illegal Arak liquor bottles on a Roro ship traveling between Tanjung Uban, Tambelan, and Kalimantan. This success follows a tip-off received by the authorities.
The seizure was the result of diligent monitoring and coordination with the ship’s captain upon its arrival at the Sri Bentayan Tambelan Port. Despite efforts, the owner did not claim the illegal liquor, leading to its confiscation.
The unclaimed liquor was brought back to Tambelan on January 2, 2024, where it was finally seized by the police and later destroyed in the presence of community leaders and officials.
The operation has been widely appreciated by community leaders and the public, as it contributes to reducing alcohol-related incidents and promotes a safer environment in the region.
