The 194th Hari Jadi Batam (HJB) was celebrated with a grand cultural parade, featuring 11,200 participants who showcased an array of diverse cultures and ethnicities at Dataran Engku Putri Batamcentre. This event symbolizes the unity and cultural richness of Batam, drawing visitors from all walks of life.

The parade displayed a vibrant mix of Nusantara cultures, including performances by the Bahana Barelang Drumcorp (BBDC), Dekranasda Batam, students, local organizations, and community groups. This event not only celebrated the city’s anniversary but also demonstrated Batam’s commitment to cultural diversity and unity.

Muhammad Rudi, the Mayor of Batam, expressed his appreciation for the cultural parade, highlighting it as a reflection of Batam’s diverse yet united community.

The event also aimed to promote peace and harmony among all community sectors, particularly in preparation for the upcoming 2024 General Elections, emphasizing the importance of unity despite differing political choices.

Imam Tohari, a representative of the HJB 194th Anniversary Committee, reported on the significant participation in the cultural parade, underscoring it as a key part of the anniversary’s festivities.

In addition to the parade, the anniversary celebrations included a pilgrimage to the tomb of Nong Isa and will culminate in the Batam Madani Awards and the official HJB 194th Anniversary ceremony.
