In an event marking International Disability Day 2023 in Kepri, Governor Ansar Ahmad highlights the province’s commitment to the welfare of people with disabilities, announcing significant financial aid.
The Governor of Kepri, Ansar Ahmad, attended the International Disability Day celebration in Batam, emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting and defending the rights of people with disabilities. The event was also marked by a partnership agreement between the Kepri Government and RRI Batam and Tanjungpinang for wider dissemination of developmental information.
The collaboration aims to spread information about Kepri’s developmental initiatives more extensively, leveraging RRI’s broadcast programs to reach remote areas.

The Kepri Government provided financial assistance totaling Rp343.2 million, including aids like wheelchairs, canes, hearing devices, and support for foundations working in mental health rehabilitation and operational assistance for the Indonesian Disabled People’s Association (PPDI) of Kepri Province.
This aid is intended to improve the well-being and independence of people with disabilities in Kepri, ensuring they have the necessary support and resources.
Governor Ansar used the occasion to remind everyone of the need to work towards an inclusive society that offers ample opportunities and removes barriers for people with disabilities, allowing them to actively participate and contribute to society.

He also called for reflection on the nation’s efforts towards disability support, reiterating that people with disabilities have equal rights and should not be left behind in development processes.
