BP Batam, demonstrating its commitment to improving clean water management for Batam’s residents, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Daegu, South Korea. This partnership, forged at the World Water Cities Forum 2023, is set to bring cutting-edge water management solutions to Batam.
The agreement between BP Batam and Daegu was signed by BP Batam’s Deputy Head, Purwiyanto, and Daegu’s Deputy Mayor for Administrative Affairs, Sun Jo Kim. This collaboration is a significant step in exchanging information and technology for urban drinking water management.
The MoU aims to facilitate an exchange of experiences and best practices in water management, drawing from Daegu’s extensive experience as South Korea’s fourth-largest metropolitan city and a leading center for water technology development.
Daegu, known as the “water city,” will provide BP Batam with valuable insights into effective and efficient water management, which is crucial for Batam as a key investment destination in Indonesia.

The collaboration is expected to leverage new technologies such as Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) and membrane technology, enhancing Batam’s water treatment and supply.
This partnership signifies BP Batam’s effort to fulfill water supply and service needs in Batam, focusing on sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions.
The initiative aligns with BP Batam’s “Batam Integrated Total Water Management” program, aiming to utilize new water sources apart from rainwater for the city’s growing demands.
