The National Narcotics Agency of the Riau Islands (BNNP Kepri) has successfully intercepted a significant drug smuggling operation, involving the transportation of 2.5 kilograms of methamphetamine (sabu) through Hang Nadim Airport, Batam.
The BNNP Kepri’s latest operation unveils a major drug smuggling route via Hang Nadim Airport, with the apprehension of a suspect transporting a large quantity of methamphetamine intended for distribution across various regions in Indonesia.
The arrested suspect, identified by the initials HT, confessed to having made 12 drug deliveries to Lombok, each time carrying the drugs directly in his luggage.

Investigations reveal that the suspect was promised a payment of IDR 60 million for the delivery, highlighting the lucrative nature of drug trafficking operations.
The Riau Islands continue to be a critical entry point for narcotics entering Indonesia, with drugs being smuggled from neighboring countries like Malaysia.
Destinations for these drug shipments include various cities in Western Indonesia, such as Palembang, Jambi, Lampung, and regions in Eastern Indonesia like NTB, Madura, and Central Java.
