The Indonesian Customs and Royal Malaysian Customs have officially concluded the 27th Patkor Kastima, a coordinated maritime patrol operation, successfully intercepting seven illegal acts in 2023.
The joint operation aligns with Indonesia’s maritime operations and underscores the rapid dynamics of smuggling, emphasizing the shared responsibility for security in the Malacca Strait.
Director of Customs Communication, Nirwala Dwi Heryanto, revealed the seizure of goods including cigarettes, fuel, narcotics, firearms, and illegal used clothing imports.
The collaborative effort led to the capture of a vessel and three trucks loaded with illegal ball-pressed goods, following a tip-off from Royal Malaysian Customs.

Both nations stress the importance of continued cooperation and information exchange beyond the operational period to secure their shared maritime boundaries.
The operation is a demonstration of the two nations’ commitment to safeguarding the vital trade route of the Malacca Strait from the threat of smuggling.
The Patkor Kastima patrols serve to lighten the joint burden of Indonesia and Malaysia in ensuring the safety and security of their territorial waters.
The completion of Patkor Kastima 2023 showcases the robust maritime collaboration between Indonesia and Malaysia, ensuring safer seas for neighboring countries, including Singapore, and fostering secure international trade routes.
