The Kepri Province Tourism Department (Dispar) in Indonesia has launched a captivating array of events to celebrate the year-end, signaling a vibrant holiday season for locals and tourists alike.

Acting Head of Dispar Kepri, Luki Zaiman, has encouraged residents to enjoy the festive season locally. With a variety of events lined up, from fashion shows to cultural festivals, Kepri is set to become a hub of activity and entertainment.

Starting November, the festivities kick off with the Dekra Fest fashion show from November 2-4, 2023, at Tanjungpinang’s Regional Building, followed by the Pencak Silat International Championship slated for November 17-21.

The Trans Convention Center in Tanjungpinang will host the Pranala Festival on November 11, featuring performances by Fiersa Besari and local Tanjungpinang bands. Early December will see the Bintan Culture Festival 2023.

The Bintan Culture Festival will include a Malay Dance Festival, Malay Dance Competition, Nusantara Art Performance, Cultural Carnival, and an Ekraf/UMKM Bazaar across Bintan District, embracing the theme “Growing Tourism with Cultural Sustainability.”

Visitor data reveals a significant increase in tourism, with a 50.97% jump in July 2023 compared to the same period last year. The cumulative visitor count from January to July 2023 reached 849,979, surpassing 2022’s figure of 748,154.

The majority of foreign visitors are from neighboring Singapore (53.50%), followed by Malaysia (14.85%), China (4.99%), India (3.85%), and the Philippines (2.42%). The proximity of Singapore and Malaysia contributes to their dominant visitor numbers.

Kepri’s bustling year-end events provide a perfect nearby getaway filled with cultural experiences and festivities. The increase in tourism showcases Kepri as a rising star in regional tourism, offering diverse and accessible attractions.
