BP Batam is set to provide a series of training for the Rempang community that have relocated to temporary housing, aiming to equip them with new skills and elevate their competency.

BP Batam’s initiative, directed towards residents of Rempang who’ve moved into temporary homes, emphasizes not just relocation but also skill development, ensuring these individuals are equipped for future opportunities.

Sudirman Saad, a member of BP Batam’s Regional Management and Investment Division, indicated the establishment of a UKM Center at the temporary housing location. Here, productive activity training, from sewing to cooking, will be offered primarily to housewives. These new skills are expected to be commercialized within the temporary housing location itself.

Beyond basic rights, a new empowerment program will be implemented. This shows the depth of BP Batam’s commitment to the Rempang community, assuring residents of holistic development opportunities.

For children affected by the relocations, guarantees have been made for their admission to the nearest public schools. Furthermore, high school graduates are provided with options. They can either enter the workforce, backed by job readiness training, or continue their higher education. Collaboration with the University Maritim Raja Ali Haji (UMRAH) ensures this transition is smooth.

Adult males in relocation are also actively involved in the development of an integrated area for the Rempang community. BP Batam’s commitment extends to their involvement in the city’s infrastructure development, emphasizing their role in upcoming major projects.

BP Batam’s infrastructural promises for Batam City are set to materialize next year with the construction of a flyover and road expansions. Given the vast labor force required, this stands as a testament to the government’s commitment to not only safeguard residents’ rights but also empower them during their temporary relocation.

This proactive approach by BP Batam showcases the region’s determination to integrate community welfare with infrastructural development. This might lead to a strengthened economic and social relationship between Batam and neighboring regions, offering more robust trade and community-based tourism opportunities.

BP Batam, in a bid to empower the relocated Rempang community, is initiating a series of training programs targeting skill development. Alongside, upcoming infrastructural projects hint at the region’s holistic approach to growth, blending community welfare with urban development, a promising sign for regional partners and visitors.
