In a significant diplomatic move, PT. Dok dan Perkapalan Kodja Bahari (Persero), an Indonesian shipbuilding company, welcomed the Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia, Dato’ Syed Md Hasrin Tengku Hussin, for discussions centered on enhancing trade and investment opportunities. This visit marks a tangible step forward following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) earlier this year.

The visit by the Malaysian Ambassador aimed to strengthen economic ties between Indonesia and Malaysia through collaboration with ASIC Offshore & Marine SDN BHD, a Malaysian company specializing in ship repairs, procurement, marine equipment, and offshore steel repairs.

Ari Rochmat, the CEO of PT. Kodja Bahari, highlighted that this partnership would reinforce the company’s position in ship maintenance, new ship construction, and expanding its market share, especially in the Oil & Gas and Maritime industries.

ASIC Offshore & Marine SDN BHD, with its expertise in ship repairs and offshore services, will play a crucial role in supporting PT. Kodja Bahari’s operations, partnering with prominent clients like PT. Pelni and other private entities.

The MOU outlines plans for both the short and long term, including acquiring a new floating dock with capacities ranging from 6,000 to 16,000 TLC and developing the Batam shipyard into a sustainable Green Shipyard.

Currently, realized collaborations include the Indonesian subsidiary of ASIC Offshore SDH BHD, PT. ASIC Energi Nusantara, as a partner in ship maintenance, benefiting both state-owned and private enterprises.

The partnership extends to the procurement of essential materials, such as steel plates and other supporting materials, vital for ship maintenance and repairs.

This diplomatic collaboration holds significance not only for Indonesia and Malaysia but also for international maritime trade. The strengthened relationship between PT. Kodja Bahari and ASIC Offshore & Marine SDN BHD opens up opportunities for Singaporeans and international visitors interested in the maritime sector. It signifies a promising future for trade, job creation, and sustainable shipbuilding practices in the region.

The Malaysian Ambassador’s visit to PT. Kodja Bahari, an Indonesian shipbuilding company, signifies a new era of collaboration in the maritime industry. With a focus on ship maintenance, new construction, and material procurement, this partnership with ASIC Offshore & Marine SDN BHD holds great promise for trade and sustainable shipbuilding in Indonesia, benefiting Singaporeans and international visitors interested in maritime ventures.
