Batam’s pivotal role in propelling the economy of the Riau Islands Province (Kepri) is further highlighted by its substantial contribution to foreign investment, according to recent data from the Ministry of Investment for Q3 of 2023.

Batam, as the economic powerhouse of the Kepri Province, has made a significant contribution of USD 160.16 million, equivalent to IDR 2.37 trillion, to the province’s overall investment tally, as reported by the Ministry of Investment for the third quarter of 2023.

The city’s dominance in attracting foreign investment stems from two major factors: a 1.56% increase in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) during the first half of 2023, compared to the same period last year, and a dramatic rise in the number of FDI projects in Batam, reaching an increase of 142.39%.

Muhammad Rudi, the Head of BP Batam, warmly welcomes this achievement. He is optimistic that the continual rise in foreign investment will positively impact Batam’s economic growth.

BP Batam’s commitment to providing seamless permitting and top-notch services for investors is a significant driver of this investment surge. Furthermore, the acceleration in Batam’s infrastructure development acts as a supporting factor for this investment boost.

The strategic location of Batam remains a key attraction for investors. This, coupled with the rapid infrastructure development, positions Batam as a prime destination for both foreign and domestic investments.

The continued investment growth is attributed to Batam’s conducive environment. Rudi encourages all community elements to maintain harmony and security, essential for sustaining this positive investment trend.

The investment surge in Batam not only signifies robust economic progress for the Kepri province but also opens opportunities for Singaporeans and international visitors. It highlights Batam’s strategic positioning and evolving infrastructure, making it an attractive destination for business and leisure.

Batam, in the Riau Islands Province, is making significant strides in foreign investment, contributing massively to the region’s economy. The recent data from the Ministry of Investment showcases Batam’s leading role, with notable increases in investment value and project numbers. This growth is underpinned by BP Batam’s commitment to investor support and the city’s strategic location and evolving infrastructure.
