Baznas opens emergency classrooms for hundreds of displaced students amid war devastation.

Indonesia’s National Alms Agency has set up emergency school tents in central Gaza so hundreds of displaced children can keep learning despite the destruction of formal schools.

Emergency Schools For Displaced Students
Indonesia’s National Alms Agency Baznas has launched four emergency school tents in Az Zawayda near the Ard Az Zaitoun camp, providing classroom space for about 550 to 600 displaced boys and girls whose formal schools were destroyed in the fighting. Chairman Sodik Mudjahid said the initiative reflects Indonesia’s commitment to Palestine’s future by keeping education going in the middle of war.

Maintaining Curriculum And Religious Learning
The temporary schools follow Palestine’s official national curriculum to ensure continuity for children from elementary to junior high levels, and Baznas has added Quran education and memorization classes that have already drawn around 100 registrants, blending academic learning with religious studies that many families value.

Daily Class Structure And Safe Spaces
To maximize capacity and manage limited space, lessons are divided into four sessions a day based on gender and grade, turning the tents into structured learning hubs that also act as safe spaces where children can experience a degree of normal routine and psychological stability amid bombardment and displacement.

Local Partners And Long Term Oversight
Operational oversight is supported by local partner Darul Quran Alkarim Wassunah, which monitors aid distribution and teaching activities on the ground so that Baznas can maintain long term support from Indonesia and adapt the programme as conditions in Gaza change and more children seek access to schooling.

Shared Responsibility And Continued Support
Sodik has urged Indonesians to keep offering prayers and donations to sustain the emergency schools, arguing that collective humanitarian action from countries like Indonesia can help protect an entire generation of Gazan children from losing both education and hope as infrastructure and public services struggle to function.

The school tents in Az Zawayda show how Indonesian support is helping Gaza’s children reclaim a piece of normal life and safeguard their future learning despite war. For Indonesians, they illustrate how zakat and public generosity can translate into concrete, child focused aid; for Singaporeans, they highlight the role regional neighbours can play in keeping education alive in conflict zones that shape wider humanitarian and security dynamics.
