BP Batam reinforces Indonesia’s commitment to making Batam a global model for growth and innovation.
Batam is fast emerging as Indonesia’s next powerhouse for global investment. In a recent meeting with the Arizona State Senate delegation, BP Batam Deputy for Investment and Business, Fary Djemy Francis, emphasized President Prabowo Subianto’s commitment to positioning Batam as a leading global investment destination.
Strengthening Batam’s Position on the Global Stage
During the meeting with U.S. officials, Fary Francis reaffirmed that the Indonesian government, through BP Batam, is determined to make Batam a world-class investment hub. “Batam will become a role model for economic growth. And also, President Prabowo direct to us how to simplify regulation and license,” said Fary before the Arizona State Senate delegation.
His remarks reflect the government’s push to streamline regulations, accelerate licensing processes, and create a more investor-friendly environment—pillars that are central to Prabowo’s economic agenda for Indonesia’s next growth phase.
Economic Growth Anchored in Strong Export Performance
Batam’s economic indicators further strengthen this vision. According to BP Batam data, the city’s export value reached USD 9.6 billion (approximately IDR 155 trillion) in the first half of 2025, marking a 27.8% increase from the same period in 2024. Imports also surged 29.8% to USD 7.2 billion, reflecting heightened industrial and trade activities across sectors including manufacturing, logistics, and electronics.
These figures not only highlight Batam’s growing role in regional trade but also demonstrate the effectiveness of Indonesia’s efforts to attract foreign investment through transparent policies and robust infrastructure.

A Vision of Seamless Regulation and Innovation
Under Prabowo’s leadership, the government aims to simplify bureaucratic barriers and strengthen inter-agency collaboration to attract more international investors. BP Batam is spearheading this initiative by integrating investment systems, modernizing infrastructure, and fostering innovation-driven industries such as renewable energy, digital technology, and advanced manufacturing.
The focus on ease of doing business and regulatory clarity mirrors global standards that make Batam increasingly competitive with other Asian industrial hubs like Penang and Johor Bahru.
Deepening Indonesia–US Economic Ties
The meeting between BP Batam and Arizona senators symbolizes a broader diplomatic effort to strengthen Indonesia–US economic cooperation. Discussions centered on potential partnerships in technology, infrastructure, and export-oriented manufacturing, which could further diversify Batam’s economic landscape and promote sustainable, innovation-led growth.
By positioning Batam as a gateway for American investors into Southeast Asia, Indonesia is actively building stronger cross-border networks that align with regional economic integration goals.
Batam’s Role in Southeast Asia’s Growth
Batam’s proximity to Singapore and its strategic location within the Indonesia–Malaysia–Singapore Growth Triangle (IMS-GT) amplify its regional importance. As President Prabowo’s administration pushes for greater investment synergy across the archipelago, Batam stands as a blueprint for Indonesia’s economic transformation—balancing local empowerment with global competitiveness.
Toward a Future of Inclusive Growth
The momentum in Batam reflects a broader national ambition: to make Indonesia not just an investment destination but a global leader in sustainable industrial growth. With continued reform and international collaboration, Batam is poised to emerge as a key driver of Southeast Asia’s economic future.
Batam’s rising global profile underlines Indonesia’s strategic vision to merge regulatory reform, technological innovation, and international cooperation. For Indonesians and Singaporeans alike, this evolution signals growing regional interdependence and a new era of shared prosperity built on open trade and collaborative progress.
