Four local men arrested in coordinated raids as authorities crack down on large-scale drug operations targeting nightclubs.
Johor police have successfully busted a major drug distribution syndicate, seizing RM5.45 million worth of narcotics in a series of coordinated raids on Oct 10 and 11. The operation led to the arrest of four Malaysian men and uncovered a substantial quantity of drugs intended for the local nightlife scene.
Multi-Location Raids Expose Sophisticated Drug Network
Johor Police Chief CP Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said the operation, carried out by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN), was the culmination of weeks of intelligence gathering. The raids took place across Taman Delima, Taman Sri Tebrau, and Jalan Larkin, uncovering a total of 37.62 kilograms of drugs.
At a condominium in Taman Delima, officers detained two men and seized 10 kilograms of MDMA powder, two kilograms of ecstasy pills, 735 grams of ecstasy powder, 110 grams of syabu, 60 grams of Erimin 5 pills, and various drug-processing equipment.
Syndicate’s Operations and Key Arrests
A second suspect was arrested during a roadside stop in Taman Sri Tebrau, with 1.44 grams of methamphetamine in his possession. The third raid, at a condominium in Jalan Larkin, led to the arrest of another suspect and the discovery of 15.31 kilograms of MDMA powder, 3.46 kilograms of ecstasy powder, 3.49 kilograms of ecstasy pills, 1.72 kilograms of ketamine, 430 grams of Erimin 5 pills, 260 grams of ganja, and 38 grams of syabu.
Authorities estimate that the total drugs seized could have affected nearly 116,000 potential users if distributed to the local market.
Syndicate Targeted Nightclubs
Police believe the syndicate had been operating since March 2025, renting units in gated, high-security condominiums to store and process narcotics before distributing them to local nightclubs and entertainment venues.
“All four suspects tested positive for methamphetamine, and two have prior records for drug and criminal offences,” said Ab Rahaman during a press conference on Oct 15 at the Johor police headquarters.
Severe Legal Consequences Ahead
The suspects, aged between 35 and 54, are currently remanded for seven days until Oct 17. The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment, along with a minimum of 12 strokes of the rotan if convicted.
Police also seized three vehicles — a Mazda CX-5, Toyota Vios, and Perodua Bezza — along with jewellery valued at RM123,200, under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988, bringing the total seizure value to RM5.45 million.
Continued Crackdown on Narcotics
Ab Rahaman praised the JSJN for its meticulous intelligence work and public cooperation in helping to dismantle the syndicate. He reaffirmed the department’s stance that it “will not compromise with any party involved in drug distribution activities.”
This latest success underscores Johor police’s intensified crackdown on narcotics syndicates, particularly those exploiting the city’s nightlife to expand their operations.
The RM5.45 million bust highlights Johor’s ongoing battle against organised narcotics trafficking. With authorities tightening enforcement under the Dangerous Drugs Act, the case sends a strong message to syndicates operating in Malaysia — that the state’s narcotics division remains relentless in its pursuit of drug offenders.
