The budget-friendly ChatGPT Go plan brings GPT-5 access to millions across 18 Asian countries.

OpenAI is making its artificial intelligence tools more accessible across Asia. The company has expanded its low-cost ChatGPT Go plan to 16 additional countries, extending the reach of its latest model, GPT-5, to more users in developing markets.

Expanding Affordable AI Across Asia

The expansion of ChatGPT Go marks OpenAI’s latest effort to democratize access to advanced AI technology. The rollout, announced by Nick Turley, OpenAI’s head of consumer products, adds 16 new countries to the list — including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.

These join India and Indonesia, where ChatGPT Go first launched earlier in 2025, bringing the total to 18 Asian markets. “Making ChatGPT more affordable has been a key ask from users,” Turley said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

What ChatGPT Go Offers

It’s designed for users who need more power than the free plan offers, but at a fraction of the cost of OpenAI’s higher-tier subscriptions.

Pricing for Emerging Markets

In India and Indonesia, ChatGPT Go is priced at ₹399 (USD 4.50) and Rp 75,000 (USD 4.53) per month respectively. These rates are significantly lower than the ChatGPT Plus plan at USD 20 and ChatGPT Pro at USD 200. OpenAI also offers a Business plan at USD 25 per month for team use. Prices in other Asian regions will vary depending on local currency and purchasing power.

Boosting Global AI Accessibility

According to OpenAI data, ChatGPT adoption in lower-income countries has grown more than four times faster than in higher-income nations by May 2025. The company said this rollout is part of its mission to ensure equitable AI access, especially for regions where affordability remains a barrier to entry.

Gradual Rollout and Platform Availability

While the plan is being gradually introduced, users in Cambodia, Laos, and Nepal can already subscribe to ChatGPT Go via web and Android, though iOS support will arrive later. OpenAI confirmed the plan’s expansion will continue in phases until it becomes available to all eligible users across Asia.

A Step Toward Inclusive AI

By introducing a more affordable pricing model, OpenAI aims to strengthen its foothold in emerging digital economies and empower millions of new users with cutting-edge AI tools. The move could also reshape how AI is adopted across education, small businesses, and creative industries throughout Asia.

OpenAI’s expansion of ChatGPT Go across Asia represents a major step in making artificial intelligence tools more inclusive and accessible. As AI becomes a vital part of everyday work and learning, this affordability push positions OpenAI as a catalyst for digital empowerment across the world’s fastest-growing markets.
