Shocking Reconstruction Reveals Brutal Abuse That Led to the Death of Two-Year-Old Boy

A disturbing case of fatal child abuse in Karimun, Riau Islands, took center stage as suspect Doni alias Rajab reenacted 21 harrowing scenes in a police reconstruction. The victim, a two-year-old boy named Syarif Alfatih, died after repeated acts of violence allegedly committed by his mother’s partner.

Shocking Acts of Violence Revealed

On Friday, July 18, 2025, Karimun Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit held a crime scene reconstruction at the residence where the fatal abuse occurred. The suspect, 25-year-old Doni, performed 21 scenes, detailing the physical abuse that resulted in the death of Syarif Alfatih on June 12.

Led by IPDA Ivan Iskandar of the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA), the reconstruction was attended by law enforcement officials, prosecutors, defense attorneys, and several witnesses, including neighbors of the victim.

Fatal Sequence of Abuse

The suspect, who was reportedly in a relationship with the victim’s mother, became enraged at the child—who was ill with a fever—and proceeded to physically assault him. The reenacted scenes included forced medication, slapping, pinching, kicking, and violently slamming the child onto the floor three times.

The last act led to the toddler’s death. After realizing the gravity of his actions, Doni reportedly brought the boy to the hospital—only after the child was unresponsive—before fleeing the scene.

Swift Arrest and Tight Security

Doni was apprehended just hours after the incident at Meral Permata Asri housing complex. His capture was part of a coordinated operation led by KOMPOL Agung Surya Wiguna, with 50 officers securing the reconstruction site to ensure public safety.

The tragic events unfolded at the home of Jumiaten, the mother of the victim and Doni’s girlfriend, located at Jalan Telaga Tujuh, Karimun. She remains a key witness in the ongoing investigation.

Legal Process and Charges

According to police, Doni is being charged under Article 80(3) in conjunction with Article 76C of Law No. 35 of 2014, as amended by Law No. 23 of 2022 on Child Protection. He also faces a subsidiary charge under Article 338 of the Indonesian Penal Code for intentional homicide.

Authorities emphasized that the reconstruction was crucial for aligning testimonies and gathering concrete evidence to support the prosecution.

Community Reaction and Legal Impact

Residents of Telaga Tujuh and surrounding areas expressed outrage and sorrow over the crime, especially as it involved a defenseless child. Local media and activists are urging stronger measures to protect children from domestic violence, particularly in non-marital household settings.

The brutal killing of Syarif Alfatih serves as a grim wake-up call about child vulnerability within household dynamics. For both Indonesia and Singapore, this case is a harsh reminder that legal protections and early intervention are vital in preventing similar tragedies. Doni’s upcoming trial is being closely monitored by legal observers and child protection groups alike.
