33-year-old faces 10 charges of sexual penetration of minor and one for obscene films
A Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officer has been charged with multiple sex offences involving at least one underage girl, alongside possession of obscene films. The alleged acts occurred over a span of five months, some at public carparks.
Offences Spanning Five Months
The 33-year-old SCDF officer, whose identity is protected under a gag order, was charged with 10 counts of sexually penetrating a minor and one count of possessing obscene materials. According to The Straits Times, the alleged crimes took place between December 2023 and June 2024, beginning on Dec. 20 when the man reportedly assaulted a 15-year-old girl.
Court documents reveal that the accused committed several of the alleged acts at multi-storey carparks in Telok Blangah and Clementi. These incidents reportedly took place between January and April 2024. Authorities have not disclosed the total number of victims, as portions of the court documents have been redacted.

Obscene Films Found on Laptop
On June 20, 2024, investigators reportedly found seven obscene films stored on the officer’s laptop, leading to an additional charge. The possession of obscene films under Singapore law carries a maximum penalty of six months’ imprisonment and a fine of up to S$20,000.
SCDF Response and Disciplinary Action
The SCDF confirmed to Mothership and The Straits Times that the officer was placed in an administrative role once investigations began. He was interdicted on half-pay starting April 20, 2024. An SCDF spokesperson stated, “SCDF takes a very serious view of such conduct by our officers,” emphasizing that all personnel are expected to uphold high standards of professionalism and discipline.
Pending Court Proceedings
The accused is expected to plead guilty in July. If convicted, each count of sexual penetration of a minor could result in a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine. The officer’s current employment status remains administrative, pending the outcome of the court proceedings.
The case has sparked public concern over trust and accountability in uniformed services. While the SCDF has acted swiftly in suspending the officer and cooperating with investigations, the case underscores the broader need for stringent vetting, psychological screening, and internal monitoring within national service bodies and civil agencies.
As Singapore continues to emphasize trust in its public institutions, cases like this not only demand swift justice but also highlight the importance of rigorous enforcement of ethical standards. The community, especially families with young members, will be watching closely to see how transparency and legal integrity unfold in such high-stakes prosecutions.
