BMKG Head Dwikorita Karnawati emphasized the need for public awareness without inciting fear. The agency continues to monitor these zones in real time using the Indonesian Tsunami Early Warning System (InaTEWS), which provides rapid alerts and impact modeling. Community drills, evacuation routes, and public education have been ramped up across coastal areas.
The government, in partnership with local authorities and stakeholders, has deployed additional seismographs, early warning buoys, and public training sessions. Critical infrastructure like ports, hospitals, and schools in high-risk zones are being reviewed for earthquake resilience. “We are not predicting dates, but preparing lives,” said Karnawati.
