Two teenage suspects have been arrested for the premeditated murder of a 15-year-old boy, FMY, in Kabil, Batam. The shocking crime, which occurred on January 10, 2025, involved a deadly altercation that led to the victim being stabbed and his body dumped in a nearby lake. Batam authorities have vowed to ensure justice is served, emphasizing the importance of child protection laws in deterring such crimes.
The tragic incident unfolded on January 10, 2025, when FMY, a 15-year-old boy, visited a carwash mess in Kabil, Batam, where the suspects, OP and RH (both aged 16), worked. The encounter escalated into a violent altercation, resulting in FMY’s death. The suspects planned the attack, using a 32cm knife to fatally stab the victim before discarding his body.
Crime and Arrest Details
On January 10, FMY visited the suspects’ residence. A disagreement led to a physical altercation, during which RH struck the victim. OP later retrieved a knife and stabbed FMY in the chest. The suspects disposed of the body in a nearby lake and cleaned the crime scene.

The Barelang Police acted promptly after the victim’s body was discovered on January 11. Both suspects were arrested on January 12 at their residence, with no resistance. Key evidence, including the murder weapon, the victim’s blood-stained clothes, and his motorcycle, was seized.
Legal Framework
The suspects are charged under Article 80(3) and Article 76C of Indonesia’s Child Protection Law (Law No. 17/2016). These provisions criminalize violence against children resulting in death, carrying a potential 15-year prison sentence.
Kasat Reskrim Polresta Barelang, AKP Debby Tri Andrestian, assured the public that justice will be served. She emphasized the need for strict enforcement of child protection laws to deter similar crimes.
